February 10, 2008 - U14's Season Opener
It seems like we just played our last tournament and here's another.  It was a new experience for many players to having never played in such noisy conditions as in Harry Jerome Sports Centre.

The girls continue to hone their 4-2 system play as well as improving on their individual skills.  There were moments of brilliant play where the team really worked together.  We only need to keep those moments going for longer periods of time.  We continue to suffer from injuries so it is fortunate we have a couple weeks until our next tournament.  Everyone get well!

Highlights:

What we need to work on:

February 2, 2008 - U14's First Tournament
On this most snowy week the U14 team played their first tournament hosted by the Synergy Club.  Despite having missed our Tuesday practice and suffering player injuries the team battled on.  As with the U15's, the U14's were also using a new system and new positions for many of the players.  The girls quickly figured out where they needed to start, where and when to switch as well as keeping an eye on the ball - whew!!  However, we did pay a price in injuries with a sprained thumbs and a couple of sore wrists.

Highlights:
  • 4-2 system, learning new positions
What we need to work on:
  • getting low, team communication, serving, passing, moving to the ball, pacing one's energy for the whole day!
Lessons learned:
