Karen Martin
U14 Coach

This is Karen's second year coaching with the Stars. She has coached girls' volleyball on the North Shore, both school teams and club teams, for nine years. For the last two school seasons, she has coached at Handsworth.
Karen played volleyball on her high school team, on a Provincial high school team, for UBC in 1979 to 1984 (mostly JV, but some Varsity) and then Women's Club Volleyball, followed by many years of co-ed rec ball. She has her Level 2 Technical National Certification in volleyball.
Karen is passionate about the importance of team sport to teenage girls and is thrilled to be able to coach with the wonderful coaching and club admin team at the North Shore Stars. Karen has two grown daughters who she is very happy will also be coaching with the Stars this season. When she is not on the volleyball court, you can find Karen practising construction law as a partner at FMC Law.
Natalie Ranspot
U14 Coach
Natalie is excited about the chance to assist in coaching the Stars U14s. She is looking forward to passing her enthusiasm for volleyball and teamwork on to a new group of players. Go Stars!
Natalie has been playing volleyball since Grade 8. She played on her school team and on a club team throughout high school, and continued to play intramural volleyball during her four years at McGill University. Natalie is currently working in Human Resources, and plans to attend law school in the near future. Natalie’s other interests include music and travel.
Tamara Ranspot
U14 Assistant Coach
U16 Assistant Coach
Tamara is very excited to be joining the Stars as an assistant coach with the U14s and U16s. Volleyball

has been a passion of hers for most of her life and she is enthusiastic about helping to foster that same love for the game in new players.
Tamara played competitively on school and club teams throughout high school and continued to play rec ball while completing her undergraduate degree in Montreal. Tamara assisted with the U14 and U15 Stars at the end of last club season, coached the Handsworth Grade 9s alongside Lydia and Karen this past fall, and is working on her NCCP Level 1 certification.
Currently, when not coaching, Tamara is working in hopes of returning to school to pursue a Masters degree, and in her spare time enjoys reading, music, travel, and playing sports including (of course!) volleyball, soccer, and basketball.
Junior Coaches
Carli Van Stolk
I have played both school and club volleyball for the past five years, and have attended numerous camps that can trace back to seven years ago. Our senior volleyball team at Handsworth has won the provincial championship title over the past three years, and I was a part of the last two seasons. Next year, I plan on carrying on with my life at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Outside of volleyball, I enjoy travelling, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
Alexis Dutnall
I am in grade 12 at Handsworth secondary school. I plan to go on to university in the Maritimes next year, pursuing a career in the arts field. I’ve played many sports throughout my schooling; although I’ve enjoyed the competition I’ve recently realized I enjoy the learning, the experience and people more than the winning and losing. I played BCO from grade 7 to grade 10, then in grade 11 I switched to the Stars. I have played on my high school team (Handsworth) all 5 years.
Gill Brownlow
I am a graduating student at Argyle Secondary. Next year I am planning on going to university,

aspiring to one day have a career in business. I have played volleyball (school and club) for about 6 or 7 years and I am very excited to get involved in the coaching world. Some of my favourite things to do besides play volleyball are travel and play music.
